Rebekah's Romantic Era Gown

Simply adore your patterns! I am a Tasmanian visual artist who has a mad obsession for all things Convict (1800's) - which is my excuse for making, frocking up in, and taking constitutionals in your wonderfully drafted patterns. I was asked to put a piece of art into an exhibition celebrating 200 years of white settlement in the Norfolk Plains area recently, so the ball gown I made from your Romantic Era pattern made it into an installation piece before I had the opportunity to wear it! So I apologise for the quality of the photos of myself wearing the gown, they are actually from the final fitting. I should also say that the reticule was tatted by my mother's mother, the gloves on the back of the chair, by my father's mother. The blue convict uniform is drafted from a 1850's costume which has been altered to ensure a 'bad fit'. The convict uniform is historically accurate for women prisoners moving through the Assignment System used in Van Diemen's Land in the early to mid 1800s. Again, I love working with your patterns and will be using them to replace my very uncomfortable, inelegant modern wardrobe. Thank you, Rebekah xxx
